its a little harder to get the message even though it is spelled out for me. you added allot of extra layers of information. i get that its supposed to represent the life and death of your object but it is strongly contrasting with the photo in the background. also i would drop this picture of the screw driver its a bad pic. think of this more along the line of where we left off, when it died because it didn't reach the battery. how can you enhance that idea or expand it. which you did do with contrasting it to life, i'm just not sure if its working with all the unnecessary images (screwdriver and bolt).

maybe more along the lines of your first idea where you are comparing it with time.

I forget this keep my image either on positive or negative tone. I was about more to attempt to show the positive of the image.
