i would say that your object is rendered in a negative tone b/c of the way it is positioned. it appears to be dead or broke or out of batteries. it seems very discarded and forgotten. The lighting and choice to go black and white further enhance the negative tone. you used representational and mechanical modes of transmition.
Yay, you are correct. The intentions of the picture are the robot dog just ran out of battery or struggle to flip over itself. I created the focus blur to get more attention since the picture is in Black and White. The background could be a distraction on the picture.
